Precipitation sequence in Al-Cu

This example shows the precipitation, growth and evolution of precipitates found in a technical Al-4.3Cu alloy. The influence of the quenching rate on the evolution of vacancies will be elaborated in part 2. In a final part a DSC curve will be simulated.

  • Isothermal treatment of Al-Cu alloy - Precipitation of meta-stable Theta'' and Theta' as well as stable Theta phase.
  • Evolution of excess vacancies - The evolution of vacancies according to the FSK-model will be elaborated in this section. The influence of various factors, e.g. quenching rate, dislocation density, … will be investigated.
